International Longevity Day

October 1st marks the UN “International Day of Older Persons”.  Longevity researchers and advocates from the around the world have adopted the date as an occasion to also celebrate International Longevity Day.

In Greater Sudbury, Huntington University through the Canadian Institute for Studies in Aging (CISA), will host a public event aimed at raising awareness about longevity issues, health matters and government policies.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Janet McElhaney, Geriatrician, Health Sciences North

Topic: Making Your Health Last – Keeping Your Glass Half Full

Date: Thursday, October 1, 2015

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: Social Centre, Huntington University

Admission to the event is free, however advance registration is recommended.

Please note that parking at Huntington University is extremely limited.  Guests are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation, if possible.  Alternatively, there are several lots on the Laurentian University campus that are located within a short walking distance to our university.  Guests who RSVP to the event on will have their parking reimbursed.

About CISA

CISA (Canadian Institute for Studies in Aging) was created in 2013 out of Huntington University in Sudbury Ontario. It is a research think-tank involved in community-based research. CISA members hail from different corners of academia comprising faculty from Huntington and Laurentian Universities. CISA is operated by a director and two associate directors who form the CISA executive. CISA’s immediate projects are in collaboration with the City of Greater Sudbury, St. Joseph’s Villa and experts in palliative care. CISA is housed at and supported by Huntington University.
