Jays Homers Pay Off for Sudbury Food Bank

A cheque for $500 is now in the hands of the Dan Xilon, Executive Director of the Sudbury Food Bank.  The donation was made this morning by Huntington University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kevin McCormick, on 92.7 Rock.

“For the second year running, Huntington University pledged to donate $250 to the Sudbury Food Bank for every Blue Jays home run of the American League Championship Series,” said Dr. McCormick.  “Once again, it was a fun way for us to cheer on the team during the ALCS while simultaneously supporting our local community.”

During the interview, Dr. McCormick also called on Greater Sudbury residents to support the Sudbury Food Bank.

“Dr. McCormick issued a great challenge to Sudburians this morning.  If $500 in donations are called into the Sudbury Food Bank today, Huntington University will match those funds, dollar for dollar, up to $500,” said Mellaney Dahl, 92.7 Rock morning show host and President of the Sudbury Food Bank.  “In other words, we stand to be able to raise an additional $1,000 which could go a long way in helping to put food on someone’s table.”

“Our sincere thanks, again this year, to Dr. McCormick and Huntington University for their ongoing dedication to the Greater Sudbury community and our organization,” said Dan Xilon, Executive Director of the Sudbury Food Bank. “This is a wonderful initiative and the money being donated today will go a long way in helping to strike out hunger in our city.”
