From Apology Towards Reconciliation

Huntington University is proud to host an awareness event aimed at highlighting the 30th anniversary of the United Church’s Apology to First Nations People.

Students, staff and faculty from all of the universities in the Federation – Huntington University, Laurentian University, Thorneloe University and University of Sudbury – will be invited to take part in this event. Participants will learn that a cairn, located on the university campus, was erected in honour of the United Church’s Apology to First Nations Peoples which was given in Greater Sudbury 30 years ago. They will also discover more about that historic event, the construction of the cairn and its significance, as well as the reconciliation journey.

Elder Art Petahtegoose from Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation, as well as members of the Waabishki Mkwaa (White Bear) Singers will also participate in this event. Members of the media are encouraged to attend.
