The Peruvian Canadian Institute has been in development since 2015.  It aims to support and foster enhanced relations between both nations through activities such as a Distinguished Fellowship program, scholarships, educational partnerships and events in both Canada and Peru. 



The Peruvian Canadian Institute was officially launched on December 4, 2020.

The following year, which also marked the 200th anniversary of Peru’s Independence, events and activities of the Peruvian Canadian Institute were focused on celebrating and highlighting outstanding contributions in culture, education, diplomatic relations, business, mining, and more. Among some of the initiatives to recognize the bicentennial of the Independence of Peru were: the establishment of commemorative academic awards for students in both countries, agreements with post-secondary partners in Peru, presentations of Distinguished Fellowships to citizens and/or groups in Canada and Peru.

Join us for this online event which aims to support the enhanced relations between both nations, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Independence of Peru. The PCI virtual summit will focus on three main pillars: Indigenous Relations, Education, and Economic Development/Partnerships.

Huntington University Launches Peruvian Canadian Institute |December 4, 2020

 Huntington University is celebrating the official launch of the Peruvian Canadian Institute.  The institute, its vision and mandate, were made public this morning in a virtual ceremony which included invited guests from Canada and Peru.

His Excellency Roberto Rodríguez Arnillas, Ambassador of Peru to Canada, has been named the inaugural recipient of a Distinguished Fellowship from the Peruvian Canadian Institute.  

 

Huntington University Summit |May 20, 2021

Huntington University is celebrating a successful inaugural virtual Summit of the Peruvian Canadian Institute (PCI), held in recognition of the bicentennial of the Independence of Peru. The full day, international event was held May 20, 2021 and included experts from Peru and Canada for panel discussions and keynote presentations focused on high-level topics such as Education, Indigenous Relations and Economic Development.

 

Keynote Presentation |Dr. Liliana Mayo, CASP |July 5, 2021

Huntington University was proud to present an educational event featuring keynote speaker and PCI Distinguished Fellow, Dr. Liliana Mayo.  Dr. Mayo is the Founder and Executive Director of the Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú (CASP), in Lima, Peru. CASP serves more than 400 students with different abilities, such as autism and other developmental disabilities, and their families.  Her presentation, “Together we make the impossible possible: Peru-Canada” highlighted the work of CASP, the success of its students and families, the impact of the global pandemic, and how they have discovered opportunities during times of crisis.

 

Canadian National Launch of Bicentennial of Peru Celebrations |July 27, 2021

A film screening event presented by Huntington University in partnership with the Embassy of Peru to Canada, to officially kick-off the Bicentennial of Peru celebrations, was held July 27, 2021.  The online event offered a preview screening of two films, highlighting the vibrant culture of Peru: "Lo mejor del Gran Teatro Nacional" and "Episodio de la serie Más Rico dedicado al Ceviche peruano".

 

Commemorative Book Launch|Summer 2022

The Peruvian Canadian Institute celebrated the launch of a bilingual book created to commemorate Peru’s Bicentennial year. The book, entitled Perú 1821-2021: Reflexiones sobre el Bicentenario / Peru 1821 - 2021: Reflections on the Bicentennial, was officially launched in Ottawa, Canada on June 29, 2022 at the official residence of His Excellency Roberto Rodríguez Arnillas, Ambassador of Peru in Canada. On August 15, 2022, the book was officially launched in Lima, Peru with an event held in partnership with the Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú.

 

PCI Appoints Representative in Peru |August 15, 2022

The Peruvian Canadian Institute, an initiative of Huntington University based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada names Dr. Liliana Mayo, Founder and Executive Director of the Centro Ann Sullivan del Perú, as an ambassador within Peru for its organization.
